Guidelines for Completing Projects for Staff and Community

An integral component of instruction in the Industrial Technology curriculum is application of classroom learning to actual work experience in the Industrial Technology lab and in other "real-life" experiences. Many times these applications take the form of projects for Lincoln Public Schools staff members and/or people from the community.

The following guidelines will apply as instructors identify appropriate projects for Industrial Technology students and/or classes to be involved in:

1. All projects must provide applications to the curriculum, both in scope and sequence. Projects will be instructional in nature. Owners of the property (e.g., auto, home, television, etc.) being worked on will not impose a completion timeline.

2. Skill levels required to complete projects must be at a level appropriate for the student(s) involved and the course curriculum.

3. Work completed is not warranted or guaranteed. The owners of the property worked on agree that the project is an instructional project being completed by students at the risk of the owner.

4. The owner of the property worked on will pay for all materials and costs of projects. These costs will be assessed and collected in accordance with Lincoln Public Schools policies and the Industrial Education Resale Guidelines (see revisions, Aug. 2000).

5. If questions arise concerning the appropriateness of a specific project proposed for completion by an Industrial Technology Education class, the proposed project will be referred to the district‚s Career and Technical Education Specialist for review.
