Mike Gillotti named LPS Associate Superintendent for Educational Services

February 13, 2024

Lincoln Public Schools Superintendent Paul Gausman announced on Tuesday Mike Gillotti will serve as the next Associate Superintendent for Educational Services beginning in July. Gillotti follows Matt Larson who announced his retirement in January.

“Dr. Gillotti demonstrates daily his commitment to ensuring each and every student has the opportunity to spark their curiosity and explore their interests,” said Gausman. “I have every confidence he will continue the great work of Dr. Larson and lead the departments under Educational Services in supporting all students in their academic achievements.”

Gillotti currently serves as principal at Scott Middle School, a position he has held since November 2022. Gillotti returned to LPS in 2022 from Bettendorf Community School District in Iowa, where he served as the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

During his time in Iowa, Gillotti implemented data driven systems to include Professional Learning Communities and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to improve student achievement. He was instrumental in the implementation of Standard Response Protocols at the district. Gillotti also worked closely with the superintendent to allocate resources to instructional priorities identified in the strategic planning process.

Prior to his position in Bettendorf, Gillotti was the principal at Lincoln Southwest High School from 2015-2021. He also served as an associate principal (2012-2015) and an instructional coordinator (2009-2012) at Lincoln North Star, and he began his teaching career there in 2005. Gillotti earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; a Master of Arts in Historical Studies from Nebraska Wesleyan University; a Master of Education in 7-12 School Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; an Education Specialist certificate from Wayne State College; and a Doctorate of Education from Doane University.

Gillotti will finish the school year at Scott Middle School and officially begin his new duties on July 1.
