Community invited to open house celebrating Aviation and Boys and Girls Club addition at North Star High School

The community is invited to a special open house on Monday, Dec. 4, from 5-6:30 p.m. as North Star High School celebrates the completion of a new classroom wing. The new space is a joint venture with community partners that will house the Aviation and Technical Education Focus Program at North Star along with space for the Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County.

North Star High School started offering aviation classes during the 2019-2020 school year. Demand for the classes meant the program quickly outgrew its space and a partnership was formed with Duncan Aviation to provide programming, internship opportunities, and a donation to expand facilities and provide equipment. 

Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County was also looking to expand its Community Learning Center programming at North Star, and joined the partnership with North Star and Duncan to add what will be known as the K wing on the south side of the school building. Currently, Boys and Girls Club offers after school and summer opportunities in arts, education, health and wellness, leadership and service, and sports and recreation.

The open house at North Star High School will include tours and refreshments from 5-6:30 p.m. with a short program starting at 5:30. The community is invited to attend in person, or watch the program livestream on the Lincoln Public Schools website: lps.org.
