Veterans Day 2023

On Saturday, Nov. 11,  America celebrates and honors our veterans and honors the anniversary of Armistice Day. Lincoln Public Schools is celebrating in schools across the city on Friday and Monday. Hallway parades, guest speakers, patriotic music and special guests at lunch — we’ll be collecting stories, photos and video of it all. Be sure to check back as we continue to post updates.

Campbell Elementary School

Campbell students were welcomed by several veterans on Monday morning. The veterans were then treated with a special breakfast before heading to the classrooms to read and provide demonstrations.

Culler Middle School

Staff set up a "Missing Man Table" in one of the main hallways of the school. It was on display for individual students and classes to walk by and pay their respects.

East High School

The Spartans marching band participated in the 2023 Veterans Day Parade held on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Fredstrom Elementary School

Fredstrom Elementary students invited about 100 service members to dine with them during lunch on Veterans Day. The school had vets from all different branches. Fredstrom staff served the veterans a special lunch to honor their service.

Hill Elementary School

Kindergarten students at Hill Elementary had fun turning their hands into an American flag. They traced each of their hands on paper, made cutouts of the hand shapes and pasted them together on the Stars and Stripes.

Kloefkorn Elementary School

The Kloefkorn Cubs had military members from the Army National Guard and Marine Corp visit to speak to the students.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Rick Davis showed students photos as he told them about his role in the military.

Lincoln High School

The marching Links participated in the 2023 Veterans Day Parade held on Sunday, Nov. 12. The parade route started at Lincoln High and wrapped around the State Capitol.

Lux Middle School

Lux Middle School students took part in a Veterans Day assembly in the multipurpose room. They listened to messages from current and former veterans, played and sang patriotic songs and learned about the service of others during the day.

 

Morley Elementary School

Morley celebrated Veterans Day today with an all-school singing of the Star Spangled Banner and My Country Tis of Thee, as well as a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

North Star High School

The Navigators marching band participated in the 2023 Veterans Day Parade held on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Northeast High School School

The Northeast High School Air Force Junior ROTC marched in the Veterans Day Parade held on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Norwood Park Elementary School

In the front vestibule, staff displayed pictures of student and staff family members who have served in the armed forces or are active duty. Students also contributed artwork.

Riley Elementary School 

Veterans joined their children for breakfast followed by an all-school Veterans Day assembly. Elliott Elementary School Teacher Matthew Manning shared with students his experience serving in the military.

Rousseau Elementary School 

Rousseau Elementary fifth grade students paid homage to the veterans in their lives by making a commemorative wall. The students wrote their loved ones and their military branch on paper bricks to honor them in their main hallway.

The Silver Hawks marching band participated in the 2023 Veterans Day Parade held on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Wysong Elementary School 

Wysong Elementary students say thank you with special messages in their hallways.
