New Educator Spotlight: Paytra TeBrink

Every week, we will be featuring one of our new LPS educators to get to know a little more about them and why they chose to be an educator. This week's New Educator Spotlight is Paytra TeBrink, math teacher at Lincoln Northwest High School.

Building/Department: Lincoln Northwest High School

Teaching Assignment/Role: High School Math

Why did you want to become an educator?
I wanted to become a math teacher because I loved being able explain a math concept to people and totally change their confidence level. When you don't understand a math concept you can feel so hopeless, so I wanted to make a change for my students and get them away from feeling this way.

Did you attend Lincoln Public Schools as a student? If so, which school(s)? If not, where are you from?
I went to school at Milford Public Schools.

Where did you attend college?
Wayne State College

What is your favorite part of being an educator?
I love watching the students have "ah ha" moments. It is so cool to see the light bulb go off in their heads.

Describe a time that you knew you made a difference for a student or group of students.
I know I have a made a difference in the life of my students when they know me as more than just their teacher. I want them to know I care about them as individuals. I try to make sure that my classroom is an inviting place to learn math where mistakes are just apart of growing.

What is a fun fact about you?
I have a twin sister who is also a math teacher.
