New Educator Spotlight: Lily Parizek

Every week, we will be featuring one of our new LPS educators to get to know a little more about them and why they chose to be an educator. This week's New Educator Spotlight is Lily Parizek, first grade teacher at Hartley Elementary School.

Teaching Assignment/Role: 1st Grade

Why did you want to become an educator?

I wanted to become an educator for several different reasons, but I think the overall reason is because I want to make a positive impact in my community. I love that everyday is a new adventure and that I am able to watch my students grow as learners and leaders!

What has been your favorite part of working for Lincoln Public Schools?

My favorite part of working at LPS is all of the support I have around me! Everyone within the district is always willing to help me become a successful teacher.

Where did you attend college?

I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

What is your favorite part of being an educator?

My favorite part of being an educator is spending my days with my students! They always make my work day exciting and fun! Even though I am the one teaching them, I learn so much from them every day.

Describe a time that you knew you made a difference for a student or group of students.

I can see the impact of my teaching through testing and grades, but I think what really reminds me of the difference that I am making is when my students write me notes or make art for me. Building relationships with my students is the best part of my job, because it shows my students that I care for them and their education. It's the small things that make me realize how much of a difference I am making for my students.

What is a fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is a cow!
