Foundation for LPS announces Fielding Dreams campaign
The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools kicked off a joint capital campaign with LPS to build premier athletic and activity facilities on Aug. 26. Organizers announced the “Fielding Dreams” campaign during a special celebration before Lincoln Northwest High School's first football game at Union Bank Stadium.
The foundation needs to raise $17.6 million to finish Union Bank Stadium at Northwest and the future athletics and activities complex at Standing Bear High School.
Lincoln voters showed their generous support with the 2020 school bond, which contributed $15.4 million toward the first phase of both facilities.
“This project is about service to the entire community. It will serve students and community members in athletics, the arts and various activities. Lincoln has a long history of remarkable facilities to move academics forward, and this project allows us to continue this important tradition,” LPS superintendent Paul Gausman said.
Here’s a breakdown of the construction projects for Northwest and Standing Bear High Schools:

Phase 1:

Phase 2:

The nearly $18 million will help get the projects closer to their $33 million vision.
The foundation is counting on the Lincoln community to help field dreams for future LPS students.
“It’s an effort that will benefit not only LPS, but the entire Lincoln community for years to come. And, in a community like Lincoln, we have so many amazing donors, alumni and contributors that it feels like family helping family,” LPS Foundation President Wendy Van said.
