New Educator Spotlight: Mat May

Every week, we'll be featuring one of our new LPS educators to get to know a little more about them and why they chose to be an educator. This week it's Mat May from Adams Elementary.

Teaching Assignment/Role: 5th-grade teacher

Why did you want to become an educator? I love working with kids! I enjoy building relationships with students. It is rewarding to watch children achieve and grow throughout the year.

What has been your favorite part of working for Lincoln Public Schools? Lincoln Public Schools puts student learning first. There is a positive culture of learning focused on student achievement. 

Where did you attend college? University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Peru State College

What is your favorite part of being an educator? My favorite part of being an educator is building relationships with kids and the sense of community that we build in the classroom.

What is a fun fact about you? I rode my bike across the United States from coast to coast.
