East High music wins prestigious state award

The Nebraska Music Education Association (NMEA) has awarded Lincoln East High School with the prestigious Exemplary Program Award.

Only six Nebraska schools or school districts have been recognized with the award since its inception in 2000. East is the second high school - and the first school in Lincoln - to receive the award.

"Lincoln East Music is excited and grateful to be recognized as an exemplary program by the NMEA,” said Del Whitman, chair of the East Music Department. “The external evaluation team particularly noted not only the tremendously high enrollment and excellence in all music classes, but the impressive administrative and community support for East Music."

As the award winner, East will be recognized at the NMEA All-State Conference/Clinic in November and featured in the NMEA magazine.
