Fredstrom Elementary School teachers Carole Allemang and Justin Brookens were honored this week with the Lincoln Public Schools WIT Award for their work to organize the school’s recent Dance on the Green event.

LPS Associate Superintendent for Instruction Jane Stavem presented them with the award at Fredstrom on Thursday. The WIT Award recognizes the moments when LPS employees go above and beyond to do “Whatever It Takes” (WIT).

First-grade teacher Allemang and music teacher Brookens were the driving forces behind Dance on the Green, which is held every three years and marks the end of the school year with students celebrating spring through music and dance. Students in each grade level learn music and dance from around the world and throughout history, and a traditional Maypole dance is performed by select third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students.
