Governor invites Huntington students to Capitol

Huntington Elementary School Principal Rik Devney and members of the school’s Young Men’s Club recently visited Gov. Pete Ricketts at the State Capitol. The governor invited Devney and the students and spoke to them about leadership and character, then answered questions.

Devney started the Young Men’s Club five years ago with the overall mission of molding hand-selected fifth-grade boys into young men before they enter middle school.

Since the club formed, 65 boys have been members. They participate in a variety of activities, including volunteering in the community, holding formal dances, learning table manners and taking a field trip to a department store to pick out formal outfits, including ties that they learn to tie themselves.
