Fredstrom Elementary students 'Dance on the Green'

The Fredstrom Elementary School's "Dance on the Green" is a tradition that began 35 years ago. This event is only held every three years and marks the end of the school year with all students celebrating spring through music and dance.

Students in each grade level learn music and dance from around the world and throughout history, and a traditional Maypole dance is performed by select third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students.

Scott Young, director of the Food Bank of Lincoln, emcees the event and guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the organization.

This year was a special celebration as this was the last year for Fredstrom Principal Vicki Schulenberg. Schulenberg has taken a new position at the Lincoln Public Schools district office and will begin her new duties in the fall. The students and staff surprised Schulenberg with a special song and performed it in her honor at the end of the event.

Video from the event will be coming soon!
