Chris Haeffner has been named the new director of library media services for Lincoln Public Schools.
The announcement was made Friday afternoon by Jane Stavem, associate superintendent for Instruction for LPS. Haeffner will officially begin July 1, taking the place of Mary Reiman, who will retire this summer.
“Chris understands the important role our libraries play in supporting teaching and learning in every school, and has a vision for the future as we continue to enhance instruction with more technology and innovative practices,” Stavem said. “Her creativity and passion for providing quality resources will help our schools and programs continue to thrive. She will be a great addition to the department of Instruction.”
Haeffner has been a teacher and librarian in LPS since 1996, and is currently the coordinator of library media services. She has also been involved in local and statewide efforts to promote and develop school libraries, and has been active within LPS in integrating innovative opportunities for librarians and classroom teachers.
