Recycling & Composting Reports

Environmental impact reports are now available for August 2023. As a result of recycling efforts, LPS saved:

  • 886 trees
  • 213,730 kWh of energy
  • 364,905 gallons of water
  • 172 cubic yards of local landfill space
  • 3,128 lbs of air pollution
  • 21,373 gallons of fuel

LPS receives national award for work at Park Middle School

LPS has been named Best In Class: Energy Efficiency Plus Health following the indoor air quality project completed at Park Middle School! The Efficient and Healthy Schools Campaign honored 17 districts for their efforts to support a healthy learning environment while improving energy efficiency.

America Recycles Day is November 15th

This annual celebration highlights the importance and impact of recycling at both the individual and community level. Starting November 15th, take part in the LPS Scrap Metal Drive to give back to the district and the planet.


Kindergarteners talk trash in Garbology Science Unit

Some of the district's youngest students are learning all about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle! During first quarter, kindergartens participate in the Garbology Science Unit where they learn the importance of being responsible for their waste [more].

Arnold Elementary Nature Night

Arnold Elementary hosted the first Nature Night of the school year! Over 250 students and their family members learned about insects, plants, animals, and pollution prevention from various community organizations.

GSRP Tip: Hosting an NRD Nature Night earns your elementary school 20 points through the Green Schools Recognition Program.
