Celebrate students (and staff!) who walk, bike, or roll their way to school. These celebrations are all about safety, health, and the environment! And we can all get behind reducing traffic at our schools. Whether you want to plan something for the 12th or any time during the school year, click HERE for more information from national and local resources.
In September, the Nebraska Recycling Council hosted their 2022 Awards Luncheon, and Lincoln Public Schools was honored to receive the Advocacy Award. This award is given to “an individual or entity that has performed a vital and critical role in our society through their advocacy efforts, demonstrating leadership and perseverance in supporting recycling and waste diversion systems.” Thank you to the Nebraska Recycling Council for this recognition of our recycling and composting programs!

Staff Meeting Presentations
Looking for ways to get your staff excited about sustainability? Invite someone from the Sustainability Team to speak at the next staff meeting. Our team will review existing efforts, available programs, and reminders about sustainable practices at school. E-mail us at sustainability@lps.org to schedule a presentation.
Don’t miss our new “How To Tuesdays” on LPS-Sustainability Facebook page each week. They include information and tips for making changes towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The topics range from making safe cleaning products to developing a sustainable closet and everything in between!
GSRP TIP: These are also great messages to borrow for your own school announcements or newsletter blurbs for students, staff, or families. This earns 5 points through the Green Schools Recognition Program!
