‘Going Green’ at the Science Fair

We had a great time at the Zoetis-LPS-GSK Science Fair handing out our ‘Going Green’ ribbons! Students received these ribbons for choosing a project that focused on an environmental or sustainability related topic. Some of the projects that received green ribbons asked questions including: how wind energy works, how climate change affects aquatic life, and whether food waste is really garbage, or is it a resource.

Scrap Metal Drive to Support LPS Recycling Program

Our Scrap Metal Drive will be coming to a close soon, so remember to bring your scrap metal to Sadoff Iron and Metal Company or Alter Metal Recycling to have it recycled. All types of scrap metal will be accepted, including aluminum and tin cans, pots and pans, appliances, wiring, sinks, bathtubs and electric motors. When you arrive, tell them that you would like to donate all or part of the revenue from your metal to the LPS Recycling Program. Funds raised will help LPS replace worn out steel recycling containers. The old containers will be recycled as scrap metal and replaced with containers manufactured from recycled steel, closing the recycling loop.

Drop off locations:
Sadoff Iron and Metal Company, 4400 W Webster St., 402-470-2510
Alter Metal Recycling, 6100 N. 70th St., 402-476-3306

When: From America Recycles Day (Nov. 15, 2018) to Earth Day (April 22, 2019)
