Lincoln Board of Education: Highlights of April 22 meeting < New

Each spring an updated transportation plan is prepared for Lincoln Public Schools, and this year LPS transportation officials are recommending one reduction. The proposed plan would eliminate transportation of 26 Goodrich Middle School English Language Learner students to Schoo Middle School, because those students will now receive ELL services at their home school of Goodrich.

Lux student returns to conquer 2014 LPS spelling bee

When Lux Middle School sixth grader Divith Rajagopal finished in second place last year in the annual Lincoln Public Schools Spelling Bee, he promised to return again and do better. Indeed he did. The young man was the winner and champion of the 2014 LPS Spelling Bee held Saturday morning at Culler Middle School – conquering fierce competition that involved tackling the final two words: salvageable and marionette.

LPS uses a telephone communication system to alert families of weather-related school closing days in the winter. The mass communication system allows the School District to notify families individually by telephone when school has been canceled due to bad weather. LPS closing schools Monday

The Lincoln Public Schools District will close schools on Monday, Jan. 6, in the best interest of the safety of students, due to frigid winter weather bringing forecasted wind chills of 35 degrees below zero for early Monday morning and throughout the day on Monday.

Knight House

Knight House is an after school program located in the media center. Any student who wants a safe and supervised place to study or hang out after school can go the media center until 5:00 p.m. (If you come after 3:30 p.m. you must have a pass from your teacher.) LSE staff and youth development workers from the Lighthouse will be available to assist students with academic, personal or social issues.

LPS BOND ISSUE

Bond Issue: Feb. 11, 2014. The Lincoln Board of Education is asking Lincoln citizens to consider a $153 million bond issue that will fund projects at schools and classrooms across the community. Information on the bond will be presented at LSW on Wednesday, January 15, from 4-5 p.m. in the commons.
