Computing Services

Welcome to Computing Services. Our department is involved in 'everything technology' throughout the Lincoln Public Schools district. We keep the email flowing, computers running and the network humming. As computing technology spreads in to other areas, we are there to lend our support.

This page is where you can find announcements and information from all parts of our department. If you are interested in something specific, please use the navigation to the left to narrow your focus.

Comments and Questions may be directed to Kirk Langer: klanger@lps.org, 458-3131.

eDisk (LPS)

Students do not have a dedicated computer so they do not have any local storage to use for storing files. Thus, a service is available to students called eDisk that provides them with basic file storage and retrieval while on the LPS network. Staff also have eDisk access. eDisk is a place where staff can drag and drop files and serves as an excellent place to back up files such as bookmarks and printer files that would be lost if the computer were re-imaged.

File Names

Computer users frequently save files. Every time they do, they are faced with a small decision - "What should I name this file?" Some of you have never given this a second thought and have been just fine, while others have learned through difficult experiences that some file names are better than others. Because this is a question that pops up on a regular basis, please consider the following information.
