Arts Are Basic walking tour set for sculpture garden
The Friends of ARTS ARE BASIC invites the community to attend a walking tour of Karen and Robert Duncan’s Sculpture Garden from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.
The Duncans' art collection springs from an interest that began in the 1970s and has evolved into an informed, focused pursuit. The couple travels to galleries, museums, international fairs and studios across the globe, searching for art that captures their enthusiasm. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions and share their knowledge of the landscape’s unique offerings, including fresh herbs and vegetables in an enclosed garden, grasses, trees, flowers and a vineyard. Artworks adorn every area of the 35-acre sculpture garden – a tranquil setting to relax, enjoy nature and savor art by notable American and international artists. Tickets are limited to 800 guests and will be available to purchase for $20 beginning Aug. 1 at Stem Gallery, 5630 P Street, and at various locations during First Friday, August 3.
Formed in 1989, ARTS ARE BASIC has been helping teachers keep their classrooms alive with the Arts and provide a different way to engage other forms of intelligence, such as kinesthetic, visual-spatial and creative thinking.
