Schoo hosting Tech Night
Schoo Middle School’s Technology Committee will be hosting its annual Tech Night for the Schoo community. Schoo is in its third year of operation serving the Northwest corner of Lincoln. The schoo is located at 700 Penrose Dr.
The Schoo Technology Committee will host Tech Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8 for its students, staff and school community. The night will provide its guest with an opportunity to witness 21st century learning at it best, as well as learn about some of the concerns that are associated with the technology being used by today’s youth.
On display will be a variety of students and classroom projects that have incorporated technology. Guests will see student artwork, photography, listen to music, watch videos, view multi-media presentations and see some of the school’s technology in use. Students will be on hand to demonstrate how they created their projects.
Booths will be available for parents and students to learn more about the Lincoln Public Schools Pinnacle grading program. Parents who have not signed-on to receive emails regarding their son or daughter’s grade will have the opportunity to do so that evening. Susan Steider from Lincoln Eisley Library will be on hand to demonstrate how to download books from the Lincoln Public Libraries website to be used on your Kindle and eBook reader. Parents can learn more about copyright laws in regards to downloading files from the Internet, as well as some great sites for their students to use when struggling with homework.
The evening will end with a presentation in the Multipurpose Room with information on how to keep your student/child safe when online. The focus of the presentation will look at ways parents can keep kids safe, yet provide some freedom and trust when students are on Facebook, texting, downloading and sending emails.
