Memorial wreath sponsorships are again available through Wreaths Across America and the students at the AFJROTC program at Lincoln Northeast High School. This winter, wreaths will be placed on veterans' graves in Lincoln’s Wyuka Cemetery as well as other cemeteries throughout all 50 states and at national cemeteries abroad.

The wreaths sell for $15 each and may be purchased on-line (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/act-now/) or via order forms available in the school office at Northeast, 2635 N. 63rd St.

Wreath sponsorships are accepted year-round, but are only included in this year's tally if received at Wreaths Across America by the Monday following Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28). The wreaths are shipped from Maine to arrive here the week of Nov. 28 through Dec. 3.

A formal ceremony will be held at the State Capitol at 11 a.m. on Dec. 5 and the wreaths will be placed on the graves at Wyuka Cemetery on Dec. 10. The formal laying of the wreaths at the base of the U.S. and service flags is set to take place at 11 a.m. on December 10.

Wreaths are great gifts for Christmas, a birthday, an anniversary, or any other event. Supporters can donate a wreath in their name (to honor their service, their life, etc.).

The objectives of JROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals. High school students throughout Lincoln are eligible to enroll in the classes offered at Northeast.
