NEW!  ParentNotes!
This site provides the most current information of interest to parents: services, resources, data and news from around the School District.

The Parent Center will also include links to services and resources outside the District.  For example: Crimestoppers.

LPS is the second largest school district in Nebraska.  This year, the District welcomes a projected 34,600 students.  And three new schools will open.

The new Arnold Elementary, located at 5000 Mike Scholl Street, replaces the existing Arnold, which was built in 1959 as the school for the Lincoln Air Force Base.  The design includes a “nose cone” shape at the main entrance.

The project is a collaboration with the Lincoln City Libraries and the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. The capacity of the new elementary school is 792.

Kooser Elementary School is located at 7301 North 13th Street, and is named for Ted Kooser.  Kooser is a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet who served as the United States Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 2004 – 2006.  The capacity is 792.

Schoo Middle School, located at 700 Penrose Drive, is named for Dr. Philip H. Schoo, Superintendent of Lincoln Public Schools from 1985 – 2004. The capacity of the new middle school is 850.

It is also a collaborative project and will serve as the site of the new Fallbrook YMCA, marking the first such collaboration between a YMCA and a middle school in the state of Nebraska.

There will be an official dedication for each new school.  Information about the public events will be posted online at www.lps.org.
