LPS Health Services and Children's Hospital: Making eye care more accessible

Lincoln Public Schools is partnering with Children’s Hospital & Medical Center to make eye care more accessible to our students this year through the Visionmobile Program. Comprehensive eye exams and dilation will be provided by a Children’s Hospital optometrist and staff. If prescription eyeglasses are required, the student will be able to choose their frames on the spot and glasses will be delivered to the student’s school.

Eight LPS elementary schools have been chosen to participate in the program for the 2020-2021 school year: Huntington, West Lincoln, Belmont, McPhee, Saratoga, Campbell, Everett, and Clinton, with 130 students enrolled in the program at this time. By bringing these services to the school buildings, our students do not have to leave during the day to attend appointments and parents do not have to take the time off work. Through this collaboration, LPS and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center will work together to increase access to healthcare and to reduce health disparities within our community.
