NSAA reports results of fall competitions

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) coordinates statewide fall, winter and spring sports competitions, as well as statewide competitions in debate, speech, drama, journalism and music. Final results for fall competitions are posted on www.nsaahome.org.
The statewide play production competition was held in Kearney in November. Lincoln Public Schools qualified two high schools: Lincoln High School and Lincoln North Star High School.
LHS staged "Journey to the World's End," directed by drama teacher Patricia Koch Johns. The play featured 55 LHS students. North Star staged "Dark of the Moon," directed by drama teacher Greg Gibbs. The play featured 67 students.
LHS placed second; North Star placed third. LHS: Kendra Bolan was selected as Outstanding Female Performer.
Six fall sports concluded: cross country (boys & girls), football, golf (girls), softball, tennis (boys) and volleyball.
Cross Country: Boys
Lincoln Southwest High School placed 7th.
LSW: Parker Schoen, Jr. finished 1st with a time of 16:30.9.
Lincoln North Star High School placed 11th.
Lincoln Northeast High School placed 12th.
Cross Country: Girls
Lincoln East High School finished 8th
Football
Both Lincoln North Star High School and Lincoln Southwest High School qualified for the state playoffs. North Star advanced to the quarterfinals. The last time an LPS high school won the state football championship was 2002: Lincoln Southeast High School.
Golf: Girls
Lincoln Southeast High School finished 6th.
Lincoln Southwest High School finished 10th.
Lincoln East High School: Jacqueline O'Doherty finished 2nd with a 36 hole score = 161.
Softball
Both Lincoln North Star High School and Lincoln Southwest High School qualified for the state tournament. Lincoln Southwest High School won the state championship by besting Papillion LaVista with a score of 4 to 3.
Tennis: Boys
Lincoln East High School finished 2nd.
Lincoln Southwest High School finished 4th.
Lincoln Southeast High School finished 5th.

Lincoln Southeast High School: Grant Tesmer finished 2nd
Lincoln East High School: Ross Schulenberg finished 5th
Lincoln Southwest High School: P.J. Bell finished 8th

Lincoln Southwest High School: Drew Bartek/Jake Marvin finished 3rd
Lincoln East High School: Zachary Northey/Samuel Tipton finished 6th
Lincoln Southeast High School: Seth Garnet/Chad Groshans finished 7th
#2 Singles
Lincoln East High School: Court Clark finished 1st
Lincoln Southwest High School: Christian Sanderfer finished 2nd
#2 Doubles
Lincoln Southwest High School: Alex Hartmann/Alec Lowery finished 2nd
Lincoln Southeast High School: Luke Burkey/Max Rodenburg finished 3rd
Lincoln East High School: Timothy Dombos/Jacob Dunlap finished 4th
Volleyball
Both Lincoln East High School and Lincoln Southwest High School qualified for the state playoffs. LSW advanced to the semi finals. The last time an LPS high school won the state volleyball championship was 1998: Lincoln Northeast High School.
