Why did I receive a text message from my school?
Lincoln Public Schools is now offering texting as an optional method for communications to parents. It is possible for a text message to be sent from school for attendance or general broadcasts. You indicated that you would like to receive texts by marking a Y in the text message column on the Census Sheet for your student. The text message that you received is a direct result of that selection.

Do I respond to a text message from my school?
The first text that you will receive as part of this service will be a text message sent from School Messenger. To continue receiving text messages from your school, respond to the text with Y for yes. If you do not respond with a Y to this text, you will not receive further texts as part of this service. (for attendance or general outreach messages)

I do not want to receive a text message for attendance, how can I stop just the attendance texts?
The program only allows you to select to have all texts (attendance and general) or no texts. So unfortunately, you can not select one or the other.

Can I just call the school to stop text messages?
Yes, you can call the school and have the option changed in your student's record. However, if later you choose to receive text messages, you will have to opt in by texting "Subscribe" "YES" "OPTIN" or "OPT IN" to number 68453 on your cell phone.

I have an old phone, and received a link for a text message. What do I do with it?
Type the link into a web browser to hear the message.

I deleted the text message or link, how do I know what was sent?
Text messages are one of 3 options that are used to communicate to the parent. A phone call and email are also options used by the school. A parent can opt out of texting, can unsubscribe email notifications, but have to leave the phone number as a means of communication.

Do I have to pay for the texting service?
Lincoln Public Schools will not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by the user. Please check with your cellphone provider. If you have any questions or did not mark text messaging on the census form but would like the feature, please contact your student's school.
